It is common mistake for novice web designers to create a website and only test the website at 1 screen resolution and in 1 web browser. The problem is, there are still some Internet users that use 15″ monitors, or use a browser which is different from Internet Explorer. Thus, if you’re not testing your website to ensure that it appears correctly at different screen resolutions and in different web browsers, you may be neglecting a small portion of your potential customers. Sure, maybe only 10% of your customers may not be able to view your website as you’ve planned, but constructing a website that is accessible to everyone is so easy that it would be a huge mistake to neglect that 10%.
Screen Resolutions
Screen resolution refers to the number of pixels that span a particular space. If you are running 1024 x 768 resolution, 1024 pixels can fit horizontally across the page. When designing a website, it’s not so much the number of vertical pixels that should concern you, but rather the number of horizontal pixels. You need to ensure that the user does not have to scroll to the right in order to view your whole web page. As a quick rule of thumb, I usually design my websites to span 768 pixels across. Yes, that means that I would be neglecting those ancient computer users that use 600 x 480 resolution. But, by accommodating those users you would not be utilizing very much of the screen, and it wouldn’t appeal to all your other users that make use of higher resolutions. Here are some statistics regarding screen resolutions for Internet users:
- 800 x 600: 14% of Internet Users
- 1024 X 768: 60% of Internet Users
- 1280 x 1024: 26% of Internet Users
Another idea, as opposed to using absolute definitions for the screen width, you could also employ relative screen width. The problem with optimizing your website to be 768 pixels wide is that your website may look empty to those viewers using 1280 x 1024 resolution. To do this, just create a table with its width set to 100%. Your web page should adjust automatically to the user’s screen width. Just remember not to add too much content in there or else the page will not adjust properly to users with lower resolutions.
Test Your Website
In order to ensure that your website will appear correctly you should view it using different screen resolutions on your own monitor. Here’s how you can do this:
1) Right click on the desktop and click “Properties”br>
2) Click on the “Settings” tab
3) Move the slider through all the different resolutions and hit “OK”br>
4) Open up your website and see if there is any scrolling required
Ensure Browser Compatibility
If you’re coding your website with an editor, you should be aware that there may be slight differences in the website’s appearance depending on the brand of browser you are using. Over 70% of Internet users surf the web with Internet Explorer, but you should check to make sure your site looks consistent in Firefox, Netscape, and Opera. Also, if you have access to a Mac, it would be a good idea to work through the different resolutions, and then you’d have most all your bases covered.
Usability And Accessibility
Website accessibility refers to the ease of use for all types of Internet users, regardless of the type or age of equipment and software they are using. When you start to consider accessibility over a flashy appearance that may only please some surfers, you should increase visitor satisfaction and in turn, increase your bottom line. If you just assume that everyone has a massive monitor and running high resolutions, you could be shutting out a good number of your potential customers. It’s just smart business.

As our children grow, they will be going to schools and
interacting with lots of different people other. For example,
friends and teachers. Hence it is necessary to teach them the
social skills that enable them to get along with others, work as
part of a group, follow rules, make and keeps friends and act
with confidence. These abilities also help our children to build
good character.
Families have a profound influence on the early development of
our children social abilities and skills. If they enjoy love,
warming relationship with parents, siblings, grandparents and
other relationships, they will have a strong foundation in form
good relationship with other people. They will be more
understanding about how other people feel and have the ability
to treat other the way they want and how they should be treated
by others. Families have a profound influence on the early
development of our children social abilities and skills. If they
enjoy love, warming relationship with parents, siblings,
grandparents and other relationships, they will have a strong
foundation in form good relationship with other people. They
will be more understanding about how other people feel and have
the ability to treat other the way they want and how they should
be treated by others.
To help children acquire the basic social behavior, parents must
set the proper expectation, rules, rewards and punishment
associated with those rules and more important set themselves as
good examples for their children. Your children learn by
observing what you as their parents do and how you behave in
your daily life - e.g. how you treat and interact with your
spouse, eldest and friends. As they begin interact with others,
your kids will model their behavior on actions he has witnessed
at home.
Following are some of the important social skills that you will
want to work with your children:
Learning that Others Have Their Own Views and Feelings
I have seemed adults hold very strong views about certainly
things and they try to impose their views onto others. This
often results in tension and uneasiness in the relationship. It
is not something healthy.
It is important for parents to teach their children from young
that others have their own opinions and feelings. They need to
learn to respect them and know that it is perfectly okay for
people to have different views. With this understanding,
children can then begin to develop empathy - the ability to
discern and share another’s feelings or ideas. It is the ability
to put themselves into some else’s shoe that make them willing
to share, take turns, cooperate and treat their friends with
kindness and respect.
Preschoolers usually do not have a clear sense of empathy.
However you can help them begin to understand by talking about
other people’s thoughts and feelings. At home, I teach my
preschool daughter empathy by asking her question such as:
“How do you think Sarah will feel if someone takes her toys
without asking her permission?” “How mummy and daddy will feel
if you hurt yourself?” “How would you feel if none of your
friend didn’t ask you to join them when they are playing?”
Often she will provide a sensible answer and follow by the
proper action. When parents practice these often and long enough
with their children, they will form the habit of being
empathetic and sensible children who are welcome and love by
their friends.
Recognize Rules
We need to help our children know that they are certain rules of
proper social behaviors. For example, no hitting of others, no
cutting of queue, wait for others to finish talking before they
can talk, ask for permission if they want to take something that
doesn’t belong to them etc.
Sharing
Sharing does not come automatically to most young children.
Often they learn this skill by observing their parents.
I know of some parents who in general are not very generous with
their things. And their young children demonstrate this selfish
characteristic very clearly when they interact with their
playmate. For example, I have observe some of children refusing
to share their toys when they are playing with their friends,
quickly and quietly keep all the good things for themselves and
leave the not so good ones for their friends etc - they all have
not so generous parents.
If we want to make friends and build good relationship with
others, we need to be generous. Generosity does not have to be
related to material things; it can be sharing of love and care,
ideas, knowledge etc. At home, I often share this teaching with
my loved ones include our young children
“The more we share, the more we get”
Taking Turns
Taking turn is one form of sharing that requires little children
to do something hard - wait. It is important to practice this
because there are plenty of turn takings in school - waiting to
answer until the teacher calls, waiting for their turn to touch
the rabbit in the science concern, waiting for their turn to
play with an interesting gadget etc.
Respecting Others’ Properties
In school, your kids will be surrounded by many children with
their own things such as books, stationary, toys, food etc. They
need to learn how to treat their friends’ things and handle them
with care when their friends lend anything to them. And parents
must teach their children the proper way of making a request if
they want to borrow something from others and how to show their
appreciation if their wishes are granted. Teach them the proper
use of words like “May I…”, “please” and “thank you”
Working With Others
Help your children learn to cooperate and help out their friends
in schools or when they are in a project team. The best way to
teach them at home is to get them to share the work of family
chores and housework. Get your children to help you tidy-up up
the rooms; help you to clean the table after meals etc. Tell
them that they belong to the family and it is important for them
to help in keeping the house clean so that everyone can enjoy a
good environment. And when they help out, they will have more
time from mummy and daddy reading and playing with them - this
method works very well in our home.
Being Polite
Children are more apt to get off to a good start in school and
be more confident of their own social skills if they learned to
treat others with courtesy. Teach your children to say words
like “please”, “thank you”, “yes Sir/ Madam” etc.
Social skills emerge slowly in children. Parents need to
persevere in teaching them. Often you’ll have to go over rules
again and again, talk to your children many times about the
right and proper way to behave and treat others. Children need
to be guided and reminded and corrected - no matter how well
disposed they are.

With learning about online promotion, there is so much information out there about “what you should be doing” to promote you business. This tutorial will be to inform you about what you SHOULDN’T DO!
What are (FFA’s) Free For All Sites & Link Farms?
These types of sites can be recognized by their one purpose. To list 100’s, maybe 1000’s of “One Line Ads” on all on one page.
What was the initial purpose?
A few years back when this form of promotion was very popular, everyone was posting their one line ads on these types of sites for more traffic to their site and a better “link popularity”. It was soon realized that “FFA” sites don’t do either.
How can adding a small, one line ad accompanied by 100’s of others that isn’t related to each other benefit you???
THEY CAN’T!
The only people they benefit are spammers…
Here’s why!
Once you submit your one line classified ad, you automatically give the owners of the FFA sites to send you messages. At the same time, there are 1000’s of marketers who are gathering your e-mail to do the very same thing.
FFA’s are like being in heaven to spammers…
Honestly though, have you ever spent the time to visit a site from these lists?
Do you honestly want to ruin your e-mail just from posting one time??? I guarantee you that your inbox will be full within a matter of weeks.
On another note, Google is actively searching these FFA sites and penalizing them. They offer no use to visitors. Please do your business a favor, never list and FFA sites on your site, you might be subject to being penalized as well from Google.
Once that happens, you’ll be spending most of your time trying to recover from the loss.
Best of luck to you!

Microsoft renamed its ERPs: Great Plains, Navision, Axapta, Solomon and MS CRM and now new names start with Microsoft Dynamics: Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft Dynamics CRM. In this small article we will give you highlights on Microsoft Dynamics family of products implementation, customization, user training in South East Asia: Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines as well as in China and Taiwan.
• English Language. Considering such country as Philippines, where English is commonly used in business documentation, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or former Microsoft Great Plains/eEnterprise is a good choice. At the same time Microsoft Dynamics NAV or former Microsoft Navision is also excellent option. The situation is similar to what we have on the US ERP market, when Navision vs. Great Plains selection is based on the functionality comparison between GP and NAV.
• Chinese Language. Microsoft Dynamics GP doesn’t support Unicode characters in its native interface - Microsoft Dexterity (former Great Plains Software Dexterity). If you are looking at the Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal - you are free to customize it and have it support Chinese. There is special utility, which allows you to intercept Chinese characters and enter them in Great Plains fat client/Dexterity forms. The functionality is very popular among Chinese food distributors in the USA - Chicago and Houston areas
• Taxes. Both Great Plains and Navision support both tax systems: Sale Tax based and VAT (Value Added Tax)
• Manufacturing. This is where you should compare two systems: Great Plains and Navision manufacturing module/granule. Great Plains Manufacturing is good choice for Discrete Manufacturing type, if you have process manufacturing - you should verify functionality and third party add-ons features.
• Localization. If the conditions of your local country require localization (tax and language specifics - very good example would be India), you should check with Microsoft Business Solutions in your country on the positioning of Microsoft ERPs. In general, when localization requires non-English/Spanish/French Canadian language - Navision is the recommended and usually localized. Axapta also is very adaptable and localizable and you will see Axapta as the option in the majority of cases.
• Non-Microsoft ERPs. In some cases and we know real life stories/examples international company, having Microsoft Great Plains implemented in the headquarters in the USA, decided to implement SAP Business One for its overseas manufacturing facility.
• Software Licenses Sale only. In South East Asia we see very strong IT departments and IT consulting market. When company is required to implement Microsoft Dynamics - it can do it in-house and all you need is software licenses sale.
• Local ERP Solutions. On the local markets, especially where government regulation takes place you can find local or regional ERP vendors. There are pluses and minuses of such systems: plus would be government reporting side. Minuses are from the control side - international company should have ERP reasonably controllable and the option to rely on local specialists only is risky.

Traveling is a great way to escape the rat race and experience new cultures and places. Alas, your experiences can fade with time. The best way to prevent this is to keep a travel journal for your trips.
Travel Journals
Take a minute to give some consideration to your most recent trip. What sticks out in your mind? Now think about the first trip you ever took. Undoubtedly, you remember few things about the trip. The experiences you’ve forgotten are lost to time. If you had kept a journal, this wouldn’t be the case.
There are famous instances of people keeping journals throughout time. Of course, Anne Frank’s Diary is the best example. In her diary, Anne kept a running commentary of the two years her family spent hiding from the Nazis. While your travels will hopefully be more lighthearted, keeping a journal will let you remember them as the years pass.
A good travel journal combines a number of characteristics. First, it should be compact so you don’t have to take up unnecessary space for other things. Second, it should have a case to protect it from rain, spills and so on. Third, the journal should contain blank areas to write your notes. Fourth, the journal should contain cue spaces to remind you to keep notes on specific things. Cues should include:
1. Who you traveled with,
2. Where you stayed and if you enjoyed it,
3. Who you met and contact information for them,
4. Places to eat, and
5. Things to see and if you would visit again,
At the end of the trip, you should be able to get the following from your journal:
1. Contact information for other travelers and people you met,
2. Enough detail to provide you with a guide if you travel to the location a second time.
3. Memories to reflect upon years later, and
4. Something to give you children and grandchildren later in life.
To get the most out of your travel journal, you should spend a few minutes writing in it every day. Every day of a trip brings new experiences even if you’re just sitting on a train or bus. If you get writers block, you can note whom you met, what you saw, etc.
Traveling is a chance to experience new things and meet new people. Don’t lose these experiences to time.

Monday, Jan. 8 There are five games on the NBA card for Monday
night and four of the five contests involve non-conference
matchups. Below is a detailed look at each game tonight.
SEATTLE at PHILADELPHIA (-6, 214 )
The Sonics are playing without rest after losing 120-116
yesterday at New York. Seattle blew a 12-point lead in the game
and now they stand just 1-2 SU/ATS since head coach Bob Weiss
was fired on Tuesday.
The Sonics were led by Ray Allen (33 points) and Vladimir
Radmanovic (30 ppg) yesterday, but they could not overcome a
poor defense that allowed 120 points and 52% FG shooting.
Seattle remains the worst defensive team in the league, allowing
105 ppg and 49% FG on average.
Philadelphia has been stronger at home this season (10-5 SU)
compared to on the road (6-12 SU) and they are finally returning
back to the East Coast after a season long seven game road trip.
Philadelphia went just 2-5 SU/ATS during the trip and they enter
this game off 20 and 26 point losses.
The road team has dominated this series the past four seasons,
standing a perfect 8-0 SU/ATS with all eight wins incredibly
coming outright by the underdog.
UTAH at WASHINGTON (-3, 191 )
This was an extremely competitive series last season as
Washington won both meetings by a single point. The Wizards are
struggling this season and stand just 13-18 SU and a
money-burning 9-20 ATS. Washington has been particularly bad
over their past fifteen games, going 5-10 SU and 4-11 ATS.
Utah has begun to play solid basketball since their best player,
Andrei Kirilenko, returned to the lineup. The Jazz are 6-1
SU/ATS the past seven games, including a huge upset of the
Detroit Pistons in overtime on Saturday night as an 11 -point
road underdog.
Kirilenko is perhaps the best all-around player in the league as
he is averaging 14.1 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists,
3.3 blocks, and 1.5 steals. All five categories ranked either
first or second best on his team.
DALLAS (-3 , 206) at BOSTON
The Dallas Maverick’s recent run of low scoring games will be
tested tonight against the high octane Boston Celtics. The Under
is 4-1 in the Maverick’s past five games and Dallas has scored
95 points or less in four of those five contests. Despite
holding four of those recent opponents to 91 points or less, the
Maverick’s defense still remains a question mark as Dallas has
allowed at least 46% FG or higher in four of their past six
games.
Boston is one is coming off back-to-back Unders; however the
Celtics are still 9-2 Over their past eleven games. The main
reason is incredible shooting as the Celtics have shot at least
48% FG or higher in ten straight games.
TORONTO at CHICAGO (-6, 202)
The Toronto Raptors had their five-game winning streak snapped
on Sunday afternoon with a close 105-104 home loss versus New
Jersey. Toronto blew a 12-point lead in the game, but still
covered as a 4-point home underdog. Toronto is on a perfect 10-0
ATS run, but now must travel and play without rest.
Chicago is starting to turn things around after their 0-8 SU/ATS
run and the Bulls are coming off back-to-back SU underdog wins
over Milwaukee and Memphis. Chicago dominated the Grizzlies on
Saturday night, 111-82, and shot an incredible 62% FG on
offense.
The early overnight money came in on Chicago, moving this line
from -5 up to -6. It is no surprise as the Bulls are a perfect
10-0 SU/ATS in the past ten head-to-head meetings in this
series.
INDIANA at L.A. LAKERS (no line)
The Pacers are coming off back-to-back double-digit road wins,
including an easy 108-83 victory at Sacramento last night.
Indiana regained the services of Jermaine O’Neal who leads the
team in scoring (21.9 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg). He had
missed the previous three games due to pneumonia. O’Neal was
limited to just 22 minutes of action and scored just 12 points
last night.
The Pacers have also been without their top point guard as
Jamaal Tinsley has missed the past five games due to a bicep
injury and is listed as questionable tonight. Tinsley leads the
team in assists (5.4 apg) and is fourth in scoring (11.5 ppg).
The Lakers snapped their five game losing streak with a pair of
wins on Friday and Saturday night. The victories coincided with
the return of Kobe Bryant from his two-game suspension and
Bryant has been unstoppable, scoring 48 and 50 points since
returning.
The home team is a perfect 4-0 SU/ATS in this series the past
two seasons.

A movement towards natural remedies, holistic healing, naturopathy, etc. has been growing over recent years. However, an important point has been missed through all the hoopla. Natural is not always “better.”
Many vendors sell all manner of herbs and oils, some of which can be used for medicinal purposes. So, if you wish to purchase herbs for their magickal properties, to use to burn, to put in a poppet, to make a sachet, to put in a ritual bath, or sprinkle to cleanse your space, have a marvelous time doing it. Herbs and oils can definitely be used for these purposes without much fear of harming yourself or others. Of course, you should be careful that anyone sensitive to smoke is out of the way before you burn any herb or oil, and check for allergies, but under most circumstances you’re going to be fine.
On the other hand, if you choose to use herbs or oils in ANY medicinal manner, for example, putting oils into a lotion or cream, making a tincture or tea, or otherwise using the herbs or oils inside or outside of your body, you’d better know what you’re doing. Not all plants are harmless. Remember, hemlock is natural. Poison ivy is natural. Some of the herbs and oils that are commonly sold CAN kill you.
If you decide to use any herbs or oils, inside or outside of your body, you are on your own. There is a reason some vendors don’t tell you what herbs are used for what purpose. They do not wish to be found responsible for anything that happens, good or bad, from your internal or external use of products. As you can tell from ridiculous lawsuits that are filed when people do things they shouldn’t do and then get hurt, many innocent vendors or product manufacturers find themselves out of business because they have to pay millions of dollars to nincompoops who should have known better.
Just as you would not walk into a pharmacy, buy a few random bottles of prescription medication, and take them without knowing what they are, the same precautions should be taken with herbs. Just because they are not regulated by the State, as prescription drugs are, does NOT mean they are safe.
We are not saying “don’t buy herbs or oils.” That isn’t the point at all. The point is, know what you are doing. Know what you wish to achieve. Know the actions, interactions, effects, chemical breakdowns, dosage information, etc. of the component you wish to use.
If you are really interested in therapeutic uses of herbs, there are many wonderful resources out there that you can learn from. Merely going through Google and looking up the herb name is definitely not enough. Take the time to study, or go to a certified herbologist for help. However, even a Master Herbalist is not allowed to diagnose medical conditions or to prescribe herbs or other substances for your use. Those activities are restricted to licensed physicians.
Be sure of what you are looking for BEFORE you buy. Just remember - be careful out there.
