Gov 2.0 is a mashup of Web 2.0 widgetry, Social Media interactivity and analytical transparency. Vivek Kundra has been driving this type of communicating for a while now. His primary objectives are transparency of United States government agendas, accountability for lawmakers and an open exchange of information. And for Vivek Kundra, this exchange of information works both ways. This means not only does he want you to listen to the Federal government, he wants the U.S. government to hear from you as well.

Vivek Kundra, Federal CIO

Vivek Kundra believes that government information and services should be provided to Americans whenever and wherever they need it. As Federal CIO, Vivek Kundra works to ensure the governmental Information Technology systems deliver quality data to the American public through initiatives such as Data.gov, Datamasher and even the White House blog. The overall idea is if government maintains information on an assortment of issues, that information should be deemed a national asset.

Vivek Kundra uses his Information Technology experience to supervise United States government funded technology investments. Before being established the first Federal CIO of the United States Government back in March 2009, Vivek Kundra was CTO for Washington D.C. and Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Technology for Virginia. He is well on the path to shifting the national, and possibly global, view of how government interacts with its citizens.
